This painting seems appropriate for the changing seasons and equinox this month. It was probably painted in the Spring over a year ago, yet it reminds me of the harvest season as well. It was inspired by the apple trees on our small homestead. I probably intended to paint over part of it or change it eventually. When I came across it while moving paintings recently, it had a wonderful message for me. All it wanted was to be wrapped in love. (click image to enlarge or view more clearly)
So, I finished it by painting the edges and accepting it’s wild beauty just the way it is. It inspired the following poem about self acceptance.
Untainted Love

beneath the apple blossoms
looking up
the vast potential of a single seed
burst forth with such hidden depths
the symbiotic dance
between the bees
and butterflies
and blooms
I want to join in
and twirl
with the soft silk petals
on the breeze
the scent of heaven
right here and now
the invitation and urge
to embrace myself as I am
to accept, appreciate,
and even celebrate
all my glory, vitality
and natural beauty
with ease
and uninhibited
tears of joy
as the sun rays
burn away
the fog of prejudice
in this field
beyond the sharp
double edged sword
of good and evil
in the sheltering shadows
from a tree of life
with eyes wide open
as I open my mind and heart
to the presence of peace,
pure energy,
and untainted love.
I hope you can wrap yourself in love today as well.
