Taking a painting outside with a single color and spray bottle is one of my favorite ways to let paint flow freely. I’ve been adding to the painting in the video below slowly for about 5 years! Sometimes they flow fast and sometimes not. This is the most recent layer… watering the garden on the canvas and within me.

This month, much of the focus tends to be on fire and the sun with the solstices. Yet, a recent experience, along with tending to the tomato plants outside my studio door, fruit trees, and nurturing my inner garden all inspired a poem I wrote this week about watering our roots. I wonder if the message may sing to you also. I walked down to the creek at the edge of our homestead and recorded the poem. I’m sharing the full free poetry reading via email this month along with other encouragement. You can get it and more gifts from ThriveTrue.com/MagicMail 🎁📬

The poem was partly inspired by an experience I had recently at a women’s retreat when we paired up with someone we didn’t know. We looked directly into their eyes and shared whatever messages came to mind. It was very intimate and healing. I found myself saying, ‘water your roots’ to the woman I was looking at. It also felt like I was saying it to myself. It was a beautiful moment of seeing myself in and through another’s eyes while becoming more at ease with that kind of intimacy and reflection. 💞

There are many ways we can enjoy water, such as drinking a glass of clean water with gratitude, bathing, drip painting, watering plants, going for a waterfall hike or swim, letting tears fall if needed, filling a bird bath, visiting a fountain, stepping in to a creek or river and feeling the flow. I love all of the above! I think ‘water your roots’ means watering what nourishes us, tending and giving attention to that in a healthy, symbiotic way.

Thank You for valuing what I have to offer (whether with your time, attention, financial support, or all of the above!). Valuable is one of my words for this year. I’ve also been loving the word and idea of symbiotic relationships recently. I hope that by sharing what is nourishing me (such as paintings, poems, activities), that I may also offer nourishment and encouragement to you. I believe that your time and attention are valuable. I’ve added more resources, book suggestions, art supplies, videos, interviews and poems to the private page with free presents for you. I hope you enjoy watering your roots in some way this month. 🌊🍃💖
