So thrilled to be Celebrating Life & the Art of Gratitude with 8 other lovely artists.

I’ll be featuring an interview and info about each artist’s creative projects leading up to the start of the e-course on October 4th.  Misty Olsen is today’s featured artist and has the joy of offering the content and projects for the last week of the course.

Fellow contributing artist, Lara Cornell, set up the following interview questions and these are Misty’s replies.

Lara: What are you most grateful for?

Misty: I am truly grateful for my family. I was so blessed to have met my husband four years ago. He has supported my dreams, helped raise our amazing son, and gave me the big family I always wanted. Truth be told, when I am having down days; I really reflect on my many blessings.

Lara: How do you prefer to show your gratitude?  (do you have any traditions)

Misty: I have many ways of showing my gratitude. I think the most meaningful to me, is writing them in my journal.

Lara: What are your favorite fall season traditions?

Misty: I love being with my family, eating pumpkin pies, and being in the cooler weather.

Lara: Do you have any favorite fall season art/crafts/etc…

Misty: My favorite thing to do during this time of year is cook. I do continue to create art…but there is nothing better than the smell of desserts cooking 🙂

Lara: Why did you decide to be part of this group of artists for this project?

Misty: I originally decided to create this workshop because I was working through the loss of my baby brother. Losing him at such a young age really hurt me. It made me reflect deeply with what I was doing with my life and how I wanted to make a difference. Finding the right supportive community is essential when working through loss. Then I decided to reach out to the lovely ladies who are with us. I have been blessed beyond measure to work with such talented ladies.  These amazing ladies stepped up and helped bring this workshop to life, when I suffered from more loss.  I have to give a special thank you to Julia Osterc.  I am so grateful for Julia stepping up to help me, without her I don’t think I would of seen this dream of mine come true.

Bonus * Reflections of Blessings – Art Journal with Misty Olsen

Life as we know it is filled with obstacles and challenges. I believe that when we are faced with loss or heartache, reflecting on the blessings to fill your heart with gratitude will heal and sooth us. It’s our readiness to show appreciation for the small blessings that make the big impacts in our lives. So, I have created an art journal so that we can do daily reflections of the small blessings that made our lives wonderful that day.

This bonus project is to share and document the journey of gratitude. For this project, we will be creating a long-stitch art journal for our daily reflections of blessings.    Join us now

I’m so glad that Misty had the original vision for this course and invited me to participate! It was such a serendipitous moment since I was planning a project about gratitude right at the time she asked me to contribute to this course!  Being a part of a collaborative blessing like this and working with such amazing women and artists is a dream come true! <3  I’m also grateful that when unfortunate circumstances prevented Misty from being able to continue managing this effort, I was able to volunteer to host the course instead (since I had just learned the necessary technical skills to do so).  Thankfully, in spite of so many challenges in her personal life, Misty was still able to contribute a bonus project to the course that was her vision! <3

Every one is invited and welcome to join us to creatively celebrate life through the art of gratitude!  No prior art experience is necessary.  The course content will be available for a full 6 months so plenty of time to play and explore all the great projects!  Want to experience the fun and magic of creativity and the joy that an attitude of gratitude nurtures in your life?!  Know someone that would appreciate the gift of gratitude and creativity?  We’d be so very grateful to have you and your friends join us here. <3  There are still early bird spaces available and the fun is starting in just a few days!!! 🙂

* More About Misty Olsen (the original visionary behind this collaborative course!) *

Misty Olsen

I am a self-taught mixed-media artist and painter, having taken many art classes through local universities, online classes, and read too many art books to count. Throughout my life, I have been on a long journey full of ups and downs. I use these emotions and past experiences to inspire my artwork, and to fuel my journey of happiness and healing. Each day I work towards bettering myself, both as a person, and as an artist. The joy art brings me fuels my desire to help others in the same way that art has helped me.
