May we witness the angels of love and light all around us. Angel is another term for messenger. May these messengers inspire and encourage us. The shape of these angels has been with me for a few years now. Though I’m not sure why and what they mean, the shape continues to stay with me and the word “heartlight” keeps presenting itself in my head.

The particular heartlight angels shared below were made with the upcoming holidays in mind, times to celebrate life and love, birth and creation. I feel that the foundations of many celebrations and holidays are similar across the various traditions. I was raised in a predominantly Christian culture so the holidays in our home and family are mostly rooted in some form of those traditions. However, it seems that as I learn more about other cultures and traditions (past and present), that they also celebrate life and love, birth and creation, divine inspiration and connection. While these angels were made to be Christmas cards, these ideas can be celebrated anytime and anywhere.

Each of the angels evolved over the past several weeks into these messengers in the finished art. I sketched most of them on the same evening and took notes about the wondering thoughts that came as the outlines were drawn. A few days later, it was a joyous blessing to have these new coloring pages in the sketch book. 🙂 I painted each angel and cut them out like paper dolls. I didn’t go back to the notes taken, but just let the angels choose backgrounds as I looked around my art table and area to see what they seemed to want. Same with the messages, I considered various ideas as they seemed to present themselves and tried to let the angels communicate their messages. The only one I had chosen in advance was the message that reminds me: “Each day is a gift. Untie the ribbon.” I knew last January that this message would somehow be shared on Christmas cards this year. As with most of the art that comes through me, these messages are suggestions and reminders to myself mostly, not an attempt to tell others what to do! Yet, I appreciate the connection and inspiration and encouragement that I find in art that others create so I share mine with hopes that it might also touch someone in a positive way. With that hope in mind, I share these heartlight angels with you.  (Please click the image if you’d like to view it larger)

Art (of all kinds, including conversations, music, gardens, stories, even facial expressions!) can have such different meanings and impacts on each of us, based on our different experiences. So, I am sharing these angels here as the finished cards first. I share the symbolism and process of creating each in another blog post. This gives you, the viewer, a chance to have your own experience with them first.  These angel messengers may have a somewhat different message/meaning for you.  Then, if you’re interested in how and why they evolved as they did, you’re invited to read more in Part 2 of this post.

I happily share art freely on the internet through this blog (thrivetrue.wordpress.com) and the Loving Road facebook page. Please feel free to share the links with others if you feel it could be inspirational or encouraging. I am also glad to offer these angels as high quality mini-prints/postcards in the Loving Rd etsy shop (the images on the blog have been saved at a much lower quality to reduce file size and increase speed/efficiency of files loading on the web).  Giving thanks special offer in etsy store: 20% off anything in store use code “THANKYOU20” (no quotation marks, no spaces, all caps, valid through Dec 1, 2014).  A few of these angels are featured in the Loving Ladies 2015 Calendar.

My prayer this holiday season and always:
May we all find reasons to celebrate life, love, and creation. May we live in harmony with one another, celebrating both our differences and our commonalities and realize our communion with everything. May our heartlight fill us with joy, love, and wisdom to be shared in this wonderful world we all call home. <3

Happy Holidays 🙂
